Commissionato da Carlo Giovanni Battista Giuseppe, nato nel 1649. Aggiungendo considerazioni di carattere stilistico si può restringere la datazione all'ultimo ventennio del XVII secolo. La famiglia Tana di Chieri era estinta già nel 1940.
