Description
Medaglia circolare raffigurante busto di Giulia Pratonieri. Iscrizione sul bordo: "IVLIA" "PRATONER".
Historical-Criticism news
L'opera raffigura Giulia Pratonieri, esponente della facoltosa famiglia di Reggio Emilia (committenti anche del Correggio).
Medaglista e incisore di stampi, Signoretti fu attivo in questa città circa dal 1540 fino alla sua morte (1602).
L'opera non si può definire "placchetta" per il suo intento encomiastico, che la qualifica come una medaglia.
Un altro esemplare è presente alla National Gallery di Washington, coll. Kress.
