Description
Pendente in oro decorato da smalti policromi (rosso, bianco, verde). Al centro vetri églomisé raffiguranti, da un lato il volto di Cristo, e dall'altro quello della Vergine. In basso cinque pendagli ornati da perle.
Historical-Criticism news
Il pendente, decorato da smalti e vetri églomisé, va ricondotto ad una bottega orafa lombarda della fine del XVI secolo per confronto con esemplari affatto simili, conservati al Museo Poldi Pezzoli di Milano (AA.VV., Museo Poldi Pezzoli. Orologi-oreficerie, Milano 1981, p. 277, nn. 88.91, fig. 98-101). Acquistato da Pozzi nel 1894, l'oggetto entrò in museo come lavoro siciliano del XVI secolo. In realtà i pendenti siciliani sono affini per tipologia e policromia degli smalti, ma si differenziano nella scelta dei motivi decorativi (Ori e argenti di Sicilia dal Quattrocento al Settecento, cat. della mostra, a cura di M.C.Natale, Trapani 1989, p. 64, p. 69, fig. 14, p. 90, fig. 13).
