Description
Il bordo presenta il motivo di una larga foglia, disposta in diagonale su un fondo a maglie irregolari e ripetuta regolarmente per tutta la lunghezza.

L’ispirazione di questi lavori proveniva dai merletti d’oro e argento della produzione italiana del XVI e XVII secolo (Levey 1983, tav. 198), ma il decoro svela il gusto revivalistico dell’Ottocento, riconoscibile anche nel disegno monotono. Merletti in filato d’oro o d’argento, per lo più destinati agli arredi ecclesiastici venivano prodotti anche a Valenza (May 1939, pp. 133-136), in Messico e in Germania, dove era ugualmente diffusa la combinazione tra filati d’oro e argento e seta bianca.
Esemplari simili: Londra, Victoria and Albert Museum (673-1875, 1186-55, 1185-1885, 1186-1185).
