Placchetta circolare raffigurante Orfeo all'inferno. Cornice modanata.

La placchetta è attribuita al moderno da Molinier, Bange, Maclagan, Middeldorf, Pope-Hennessy. Rossi propone il nome convenzionale di Maestro di Orfeo, seguace di Moderno, e attribuisce a lui la serie delle Storie di Orfeo (di cui fanno parte oltre all'esemplare qui descritto le placchette raffiguranti Orfeo chiedo Euridice agli Dei infernali, Orfeo perde Euridice, Orfeo placa gli animali col canto) e di Arione, già assegnate al Moderno.
Il Maestro di Orfeo si distingue dal Moderno per la minore dinamicità dell'azione e il più pronunciato classicismo delle figure.
La figura di Orfeo sembra derivata dal Baccanale inciso da Mantegna, e per questo Rossi propone una connessione con l'ambiente padovano.
