Mar. se Germen deve trattarsi di un membro della famiglia di Thomas Germain (Paris 1673 - 1748) presso il quale Lavy fece esperienza dal 1740 al 1745. Il 4 ottobre 1740 L. Lavy parte per Parigi, su consiglio dell'orefice Andrea Boucheron, per andare a perfezionarsi presso il signor Germain orefice del re nella Galleria del Louvre
