Description
Miniatura dipinta raffigurante un uomo dai capelli bianchi ricciuti, appoggiato alla balaustra di una terrazza mentre tiene in manio un libro, vestito con una redingote blu, una camicia, un gilè e una cravatta bianchi, sfondo di sottobosco, con una statua muliebre alla sua destra. Cornice in metallo dorato.

Il ritratto è copiato da un dipinto di Prud'hon.
Gautier lavorò a Parigi. Fu pittore di paesaggi e di ritratti miniati su smalto, fu un'artista di qualità.
