Il dipinto, che proviene dal Convento benedettino di Mulleggio è, secondo Giovanni Romano (comunicazione orale), attribuibile a Giuseppe Giovenone il vecchio. Cfr. il pendant alla scheda 0461/D. Un dipinto del medesimo, anonimo artista (già riconosciuto nel Sacchi) è conservato nel Metropolitan Museum di New York. Cfr. lettera di E. Fahy in allegati.
