Description
Studio per un cavaliere con un elmo visto di spalle Questo cavaliere regge un arco nella mano destra e porta una faretra dietro la schiena. Dagli schizzi eseguiti a sinistra e a destra, sembra che l'artista abbia eseguito uno studio per la rappresentazione di un cavaliere in mezzo a una battaglia. Sulla sinistra, si intravede una mano rivolta verso il cavaliere e, sulla destra, lo schizzo di un soldato con un elmo che combatte a terra (?).

Cerquozzi, Michelangelo detto Michelangelo delle Battaglie (Roma, 1602/1660) peintre italien. L'appellation sous laquelle il fut connu de ses comtemporains lui vint de son activité de peintres de batailles, à laquelle il fut initié dans l'atelier romain du Flamand Jacob de Haase. Aujourd'hui, il est plutôt connu comme un auteur de bambochades au style personnel et plein de vie, non dépourvu des qualités de Van Lear (L'Abreuvoir, Rome, Galerie Corsini), et natures mortes animées de personnages (Récolte des grenades, Rotterdam, Musée Boymans-Van Beuningen.).
