Description
Il merletto ha la rete a maglie esagonali decorata da un leggero motivo ellissoidale creato da semini. Lungo il bordo si innalza un sottile tralcio, con due stilizzate infiorescenze.
Historical-Criticism news
Il merletto è databile ai primi decenni del XIX secolo, come indica il disegno che, pur nella sua estrema semplificazione, trae ispirazione dalla impostazione decorativa del Primo Impero. Esemplari molo simili a quelli prodotti in Inghilterra erano fatti eseguire nelle zone appartenenti all’Impero Britannico, quali l’India (Wardle 1968, tav. 46; Earnshaw 1982, tav. 4; Earnshaw 1983, tavv. 36-1; 36-4; Mottola Molfino 1984c, pp. 163-164, schede nn. 309-311).
